EchoSystems: A Living Collection

Through connecting everyday found objects with conductive synthesizers, my art installations in the EchoSystems collection aim to create experiential memories to accentuate simple stories about the inherent abundance in our lives. By allowing the viewer actions to trigger their own sound experiences through their exploration of simple actions in the installation, my pieces offer the joy of creative agency back to the viewer.

Transcending traditional art forms, these interactive installations allow visitors to reconnect with familiar objects and movements. The multiscensory experiences activate memories that embue our quotidien habits with the presence of emotions evoked during a viewer engagement. Viewers have described their experience as magical and whimsical. Strangers of various backgrounds ages, have held hands in collaborative play. The experience offered evokes a profoundness which once experienced can not be unknown, hereby gifting a deeper connection to our shared human experiences interwoven with our existing habits with familiar objects. My hope is that these memories can become the part of a new cultural heritage of our shared humanity, with viewers leaving the experience transformed: where future tea times become more philosophical, and our gardens a source of inspiration.

A sound experience for one, composed of a bucket of rain water, a silver teapot with a seedling, a goblet, and a star shaped light. Positioned for interaction, the viewer is invited to pour water into their vessel to water the plant which is poured back into the bucket or their own vessel to elicit various sounds due to the installation design for connected moments from a conductive synthesizer.

An sound experience for multiple participants composed of found metal objects, wires, copper, a conductive synthesizer, natural elements and water. The pool of water offers every day objects, positioned alongside a brass candlestick as the grounding element over a mirrored surface. Viewers are invited to unite around the pool, hold hands and co-create together, in a whimsical experience to interact with a pool of water and natural elements. Precious stones and jewelry are offered as ordinary stones on a bed of moss, as if to remind the viewer that the extraordinary resides more in our actions than in our objects.

A deliciously edible sound experiment created with an original agar jelly recipe connected via an original CircuitPython program on a Adafruit circuitboard. The artist reduced a verveine syrup to add into an agar agar jelly with seasonal white peaches, cashew foam, olive oil and salt. The Adafruit circuit board plays a sequence of touch-triggered note groups to emulate the most recognized part of Gymnopedie by Satie.

Created in Paris, France in 2024.

A sound experience designed for two participants, with two silver vessels, a silver teapot with a shared seedling to represent shared dreams, and a bucket of water. Participants are invited to hold onto a long brass candlestick to begin their shared journey of enlightenment. This piece is designed to elevate trusted bonds between two individuals, and will appropriately debut during a plant-based dinner hosted by Patrick Duffy after the UN General Assembly 2024.

Seeking a host and grant funding for installing the first of an automated garden complete with a seedling library featuring local nurseries and farms. Ideally, this piece will initiate an educational program connected with an associated school library to provide training to learn about urban gardening. Whimsical community garden stands named Inner Peas and other projects can be associated as a resulting impact of this type of project. Several host locations have been identified, granted funding available.

Please speak with Yin if you would like to bring this dream into reality.

The vision is to fund explorative art x tech built environment projects, motivated with grant funded forest dinners and artist retreats, via a self sustaining artist residency program. The debut location is offered on 6 acres, where artists can be invited to design and build dreamscapes such as a musical rain tearoom structure and a stargazing bath garden. This retreat will be the proving ground for ideas such as regenerative water filtration design, native flora nature paths, and other research-driven landscape art projects. Additionally, this retreat can be a model replicated across a constellation of locations which offer hybrid or electric vehicles (with charging infrastructure) across rural locations in the US.

Please speak with Yin if you may be interested in helping bring this dream into reality.
